John McCain

John McCain was born August 29, 1936. He graduated from the U.S navel academy in 1958. He went on to become a naval aviator, in the Vietnam War he was shot down and captured. He was put through a lot of physical torture but would not give in or leave his men. This left him with many physical limitations that would last the rest of his life. He was held until 1973 and then retired from the navy in 1981. He soon moved to Arizona where he entered politics.

John McCain was elected into the U.S House of Representatives in 1982; he served two terms and then was elected into the U.S senate. He also worked towards restoring diplomatic relations with Vietnam. McCain has noted that the war in Iraq should be fought until the end with a successful conclusion. He also opposes pork barrel spending. McCain lost the republican nomination to George W. Bush in 2000, but ran again in 2008 and has been chosen as the Republican Party nominee. He elected Mrs. Sarah Palin (governor of Alaska) to be his vice presidential nominee.
